Upon accessing Queen Vegas I was immediately greeted with a very imposing advert for its bonus - only available on Viking styled game Thor: The Trials of Asgard. The design wasn’t the best and it seemed to be cut off halfway down, whether that was because of my WiFi connection or by design I wasn’t sure, but either way, it gave a mixed first impression.

That bonus gave the player 100% up to $300, which isn’t amazing but is nothing to be sniffed at, as well as 50 free spins.

Once I’d navigated that slightly affronting landing page, the next step was signing up to the website, which was quick and painless. I was asked for all the usual information: my name, address, phone number, email and username. With a few quick swishes of the keyboard and mouse, I was registered and through to the homepage.

The layout and the colour scheme didn’t really inspire me to play if I’m being brutally honest. The brown, very basic design reminded me of a depressing sitcom your Gran used to watch in the late 1980s.

Additionally, the site just felt a little clunky to use with lots of menus that took a few seconds to open up. This slowed down the browsing experience and made me a little reluctant to fully browse the site.

One thing I did like about the site was that it told you how much minimum stake you could do for each game, which saved a lot of clicking in and out to find out that information. I headed for Book of Dead (Play’n GO) because I know it’s a pretty good game and I can play it easily. This is a vaguely Indiana Jones themed game that has a smattering of Egyptian mystic about it too. It’s a fun experience but I wasn’t having much luck, so I headed for new shores.

I headed for Vikings Go Beserk (Yggdrasil) because how can you not with that name? But would I be going berserk, or could I find my happy place amongst this game? Straight away the design appealed to me - it was a fun looking game, with cool cartoon graphics and plenty of aspects (rage meter for free spins) to keep a player engaged.

This game was really fun and fed me lots of small wins to try and keep me going, but the losses just outweighed the fun and I exited for some table games.

At first, I didn’t think Queen Vegas offered a live casino, but I found it semi-hidden inside one of the drop-down menus so all was well again. I headed for Lightning Roulette (Evolution) because there’s a fun gameshow element to the game, plus you can really win big if you land on one of the fun multipliers.

I tried out some American Blackjack and all was going well before there appeared to be a catastrophic meltdown of the site. I’d placed bets on five hands and hit the deal button, but nothing happened and I was forced to reload the game.

But, problems aside, I liked the game. It moved quickly and the design was really nice and pleasing.

I tested this section of the site from a coffee shop next to the beach in Raglan, don’t worry there’s a point to this story, and it worked really well over my 4G connection. And if it’ll work well here, it’ll work well anywhere.

I played Starburst (NetEnt) first. This is a game I’ve come across a lot, and it’s always pretty fun to play. It has a pretty basic layout, which works well over mobile because there’s not a lot of complicated graphics to load up, and this version of the game seems specifically formatted for mobile.

American Blackjack Turbo was up next, but to be honest I wasn’t impressed with the Windows 95 style graphics and stilted electronic voice. Plus I got 21 in two of my three hands and the dealer landed on it as well so that left a sour taste in my mouth!

However, it did all run smoothly so I can’t really give Queen Vegas a bad score for their mobile offering. Queen Vegas doesn’t get top marks because of that awful design, but it’s still pretty good.

I wanted to ask the customer support team about when I’d need to provide further ID documents. I clicked on the support button and was directed to the live chat banner, which appeared to be the only method of support Queen Vegas offered. However, after further investigation, I found an email option too, but it wasn’t very clearly advertised.

After a couple of minutes wait, a customer service agent was assigned to me and I was told that I’d need to provide some ID verification to process withdrawals.

This was all well and good, except when I needed additional support. The live chat option appeared to be a dead area of the website, and I couldn’t even get through to chat to someone when I needed help!

I wasn’t asked to provide any documents or to do any account verification while I was signing up for Queen Vegas. Customer service did inform that that I’d need to upload some verification documents before I was able to withdraw. Thankfully, all that I needed was proof of address and proof of ID, so I uploaded a scan of my passport and one of my power bills.

It was easy to find where to do the upload and it all went through nice and smoothly, plus Queen Vegas were able to assess and approve my documents within 12 hours.

But then I hit a hitch - as I explain in the section below. But essentially, I had to upload my documents twice and that caused delays I could have done without.

I always try to avoid depositing money via bank transfer where I can. In Canada, it’s really hard to get that money back so using an e-wallet is always my go-to. Queen Vegas were excellent in this regard and included my prefered payment operator as one of their deposit methods.

I had my $50 in my account and ready to go in a matter of pain-free moments, so I can’t fault Queen Vegas in that regard.

Customer service told me that it would take between two and seven days to process withdrawals. There was also a helpful prompt that told me to upload my verification documents before I could complete my withdrawal.

However, there was a major snag: once I’d uploaded by documents, the Queen Vegas system didn’t seem to recognise it and wouldn’t let me withdraw my money without uploading documents - which I had already done!

So that caused delays before I could even try to withdraw my money! I must say, once I was able to withdraw money it landed in my bank account within 12 hours, which is excellent.

QueenVegas has fewer gaming options in comparison to its contenders on the market, but still, provides remarkable services to gamblers. With its many payment options and cooperation with famous software providers, QueenVegas casino is definitely worth checking out.
